Michael P. Sopchak, Jr. (R) was first appointed in November 2011, and was re-elected to a new term representing Legislative District 12 in 2016. District 12 includes The Town of Dickinson, Village of Port Dickinson, portions of the Village of Johnson City, Town of Union and City of Binghamton.
Mike first became a Johnson City resident in 1948. He has a distinguished career history which includes a B.A. from The College of William and Mary, where he was a 4 year member of the Men's Honor Council including Chairman in his senior year, and 2 years in the Peace Corps. Mike is a lifelong sportsman including baseball, basketball, tennis and golf. He is an active member of the Endicott Rotary Club.
Mike is focused on facing the challenges that the County has regarding economic development, fiscal responsibility and governmental cooperation and continues to use his business experience and fiscally conservative credentials to keep the County moving in the right direction.
Mike is an Associate Broker with Exit Realty Homeward Bound. He lives in Johnson City with his spouse of 44 years, Dickey. They are the parents of 3 adult children.
