Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Purchasing Director John Flynn to announce details of the annual Broome-Tioga Public Auction.
The auction will be held Saturday, September 24th at the Broome County Highway Garage on Thomas Street in the Town of Chenango.
The auction allows municipalities and school districts to sell used, surplus and not needed supplies, materials and equipment including cars, trucks, heavy equipment, bicycles, office equipment, recreational equipment and more.
Since 2012, the auction has netted a total of nearly $1 million, with $433,221 going directly to Broome County.
“This is a great way for people to find good deals on items, while helping to raise money for their local governments,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston. “Every year, people are surprised at what they can find and the good deals they are able to enjoy.”
All items are sold as is, with no warrantees and are to be removed as soon as the auction is complete.
The auctioneer, Mel Manasse and Son, will release titles to the vehicles when the buyer’s check has cleared.
Public inspection and registration begins at 8:00 am. The vehicle and equipment portion begins at 10:00 am and the non-vehicle portion will begin at approximately 11:00 am.
Photo identification must be presented to the auctioneer for those wishing to register as bidders.
